Double Easel Card & Using Negative Die-Cuts - Happy Half Hour Facebook Live

Hello, my joyful friends!  Every Thursday at 11 AM ET I go live on The Joyful Stamper Facebook Page.  Everyone is invited for a half hour of stamping fun!  I'll post the replay and project sheet with measurements below after the Live.  You can print the project sheet for easy reference.

I cannot WAIT to show you how to make this VERY easy fun fold!!  And look at all that real estate you have to work with!

I pulled out the Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper from the new Holiday Mini Catalog (request a free package) and paired it with the Gather Together Bundle, a returning favorite (it made my Favorites list).

The leaves look stunning die-cut with Brushed Metallic cardstock.  I couldn't choose from the bronze, copper, or gold so I used all 3!

I also used the Ornate Frames dies to cut more of the DSP to create 2 labels.  One is used as a substrate for the Embroidered Ribbon, hand-cut stamped wheat sheaf, and Gilded Gem.  The other label showcases the sentiment and more Gilded Gems.

With a card this dressed up, I couldn't leave the inside naked!  I cut a Very Vanilla piece with the largest die from Ornate Layers and stamped it with images from Gather Together in Cajun Craze and Mint Macaron.

So, remember the 3 metallic leaves from the first card in this post?  I used their negative space for this one!  What is negative space?  It's what's left after die-cutting your main shape.

This card is very simple and elegant and came together in under 10 minutes.  The paper is from the Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper and sits on a Thick Very Vanilla card base.  The sentiment was selectively inked in Early Espresso and is from the Gather Together stamp set.

My Favorite Suites

Magic In The Night - Item #155122 - page 53

halloween, magic in the night suite, magic in the night ideas, stampin' up!, holiday mini catalog, paper crafts, stamping, craft supplies, stampin' up! demonstrator

Why I love it: The 12"x12" paper is beautifully elegant and I adore the combination of Pretty Peacock and Blackberry Bliss.  The Metallic Mesh Ribbon is "webby" and, along with the Black Glitter Paper, will add eye-catching sparkle.  The Iridescent Pearls are listed as black, but in person they actually have several hues, depending on the angle you look at them.  The dies in this suite are versatile, cutting 2 labels, a decorative edge lace piece, and an open flower and leaf, along with the bats and spider from its coordinating stamp set (check out the stunning label image)!  I'm SO excited to make ornaments for my Halloween tree, treat holders, my annual Nugget cakes, and more!  Check out the wrapped homemade soap sample on page 54!

Poinsettia Place - Item # 155109 - page 15

christmas, poinsettia place suite, poinsettia place ideas stampin' up!, holiday mini catalog, paper crafts, stamping, craft supplies, stampin' up! demonstrator

Why I love it: Two words - Christmas elegance.  I'm imagining gold embossed poinsettias on Very Vanilla cardstock, or poinsettias in Blushing Bride and So Saffron on the flocked Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper.  The Beaded Pearls make stunning flower centers AND you can color them with Stampin' Blends! The fonts and greetings are classic and in a beautiful script.  Perfectly sized, they work for both the inside and outside of a card.  The DIES - oh my!  Being able to layer the poinsettia pieces has my mind going to table centerpieces, wreaths, tags, and ornaments!  I am especially excited to make over-the-top tags this year with this suite!

Snowflake Splendor - Item #155115 - page 37

winter, christmas, snowflake splendor suite, snowflake splendor ideas, stampin' up!, holiday mini catalog, paper crafts, stamping, craft supplies, stampin' up! demonstrator

Why I love it: Winter's my favorite season, so how could I NOT love the bazillion snowflakes in this suite?  The stamp set is packed with them and I love the greetings with their mix of handwritten and typed fonts.  There's even a "Happy Hanukkah" in the set, which has been a frequent plea of stampers!  Make sure you check out the gorgeous label die, which cuts away snowflake shapes on the edges.  How pretty would a greeting look framed with that?  The Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper is what I've been die-cutting the snowflakes with and paired with the Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems, they sparkle!

My Favorite Paper

Brushed Metallic cardstock - Item #153524 - page 45

brushed metallic cardstock, bronze, copper, gold, stampin' up!, holiday mini catalog, paper crafts, stamping, craft supplies, stampin' up! demonstrator

Why I love it: It has a subtly brushed look, as if someone went lightly over it with a steel pad.  That saves me from having to do it myself, because that's what I normally do with any foil paper lol!  I'm imagining this embossed with the Winter Snow Embossing Folder for gold snowflakes, or bronze and copper leaves cut with the Gathered Leaves dies.  That would make a gorgeous garland or Thanksgiving centerpiece!

Gilded Autumn Specialty - Item #153520 - page 45

fall, gilded autumn specialty, designer series paper, patterned paper, gold foil, stampin' up!, holiday mini catalog, paper crafts, stamping, craft supplies, stampin' up! demonstrator

Why I love it: Mint Macaron, Cajun Craze, and gold foil.  That's it!  Stampin' Up! had me at those three.

'Tis The Season 6"x6" - Item #153489 - page 31

tis the season patterned paper, christmas paper, stampin' up!, holiday mini catalog, paper crafts, stamping, craft supplies, stampin' up! demonstrator

Why I love it: This paper has classic Christmas designs and colors that will allow me to make simple and pretty cards.  It will also be great for my holiday scrapbook pages.  I'll be using the Pine Tree punch with this paper pack, too, as the patterns are sized smaller and will show up nicely in the punched tree.  That would make a cute, but easy, gift tag - punch the tree from any of these papers, heat emboss a greeting, add a ribbon and you're done!

Red Velvet - Item #153490 - page 63

red velvet paper, velvet, specialty paper, velvet paper samples, stampin' up!, holiday mini catalog, paper crafts, stamping, craft supplies, stampin' up! demonstrator

Why I love it: Anything I can add to a project that makes someone want to touch it is a favorite of mine.  This velvet paper is definitely touchable.  I love that it can be embossed with our folders, too (the sample card was embossed with the Little Details folder).  Large red velvet snowflakes layered with smaller white ones?  I like that idea!

My Favorite Embellishments

3/8" Embroidered Ribbon - Item #153554 - page 57

embroidered ribbon, natural ribbon, fall, stampin' up!, holiday mini catalog, paper crafts, stamping, craft supplies, stampin' up! demonstrator

Why I love it: I was drawn to the natural color and embroidery details.  When I opened the roll, I was amazed at how soft this ribbon is!  It's the softest ribbon Stampin' Up! has carried that I can remember over the past 20 years.  I will have no trouble using up this spool.

Wonderful Gems - Item #153536 - page 31

wonderful gems, embellishments, papercrafting embellishments, glitter, stampin' up!, holiday mini catalog, paper crafts, stamping, craft supplies, stampin' up! demonstrator

Why I love it: The flecks of gold in the clear and red gems have a light touch of sparkle that will look elegant.  On my more "serious" projects, I don't want to add full-on glimmer paper but I still want that bit of shine.  These gems will do the trick perfectly.

Wonder of the Season Ribbon Combo Pack - Item #153537 - page 31

wonder of the season ribbon, ribbon combo pack, christmas ribbon, gold cord, green ribbon, stampin' up!, holiday mini catalog, paper crafts, stamping, craft supplies, stampin' up! demonstrator

My Favorite Returning Favorites

Stampin' Up! has brought back its most popular items from last year's Holiday Mini that were often sold out.  That is GREAT news for many stampers that couldn't get them.  The following two bundles are my favorites of the products that are returning.

Gather Together Bundle - Item #153036 - page 47

Why I love it: It's classic fall with images I can use coloring techniques on.  Rock 'N Roll with the leaf, or applying multiple colors with sponge daubers; coloring the pumpkins with Stampin' Blends; or how about quick watercolor washes?  This bundle was well-loved by me last fall and will be again.  I used up all the fall paper from last year and I can't wait to use the Gilded Autumn paper and Brushed Metallic cardstock with this bundle this year.

Merry Moose Bundle - Item #153015 - page 27

Why I love it: It's a moose.  Does anything more need to said?  Okay - how about the Buffalo Check background stamp with the moose?

Last Day To Earn Bonus Days Coupons | Letter Die-Cutting Technique That's A Show-Off!

How was your weekend, my joyful friends?  Ours was not packed with events but it was full of relaxing activities, mostly due to the rainy and cloudy weather.  Don't you just love those kinds of weekends?  Lots of reading, lots of baking and cooking, then out for some excellent pizza with my parents.  My dad likes to pass along non-fiction books after he's finished with them and he had another great one for me - The Heirs of The Founders by H.W. Brands.  I just finished The Splendid and The Vile by Erik Larson and am currently on Churchill's Trials but Larry Arnd.  I did pick up a couple fictional novels to read in-between.  The non-fiction books can get intellectually heavy and so I like to mix it up with lighter fare every now and then.  I've parked myself on the couch with a book and read for 12 hours straight way too many times to count - bookworm would accurately describe me!

ON TO STAMPING!  My team leader recently mailed us a challenge packet that had some pieces of Designer Series Paper, ribbon, and gems.  We were to make a card from the packet pieces and post it to the team page.  I LOVE when she does this!  I made 3 cards total and I'm posting the supplies and measurements below each card, so read on!

stampin' up!, patterned paper, letter dies, unique ways to use letter dies, paper crafts, stamping, handmade card, how to make cards, how to stamp, birthday card

I saw this idea from Elizabeth Price of Seeing InkSpots and had to do it!  You use the Playful Alphabet letter dies (page 178 of the Annual Catalog) to die-cut an embossed piece of Whisper White cardstock.  You then attach it on top of any Designer Series Paper and all that wonderful pattern shows through!  BUT, I don't have the Playful Alphabet letter dies.  I do, however, own the Little Letters dies from years ago and they are exactly the same size and Playful Alphabet and the font is very similar.

Calypso Coral cardstock - 4-1/2"x11", scored and folded in half at 5-1/2"

Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder - emboss the Whisper White piece before die-cutting

Playful Alphabet dies - either this die set or the retired Little Letters dies will work fine.  Both alphabets are the same size and of a block font.

Gold Glimmer Paper - I thought this was still available but it retired with the last catalog!  Gold Foil paper would be a good substitute.

Cinnamon Cider cardstock - 4-1/4"x11", scored and folded in half at 5-1/2"

Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder - emboss the Whisper White piece before die-cutting

Playful Alphabet dies - either this die set or the retired Little Letters dies will work fine.  Both alphabets are the same size and of a block font.

Small Bloom Punch - after you've glued on the flowers, scrunch them up with your fingernails.  It's okay if the paper splits!  All that texture will add so much to your card!

Playful Alphabet dies - either this die set or the retired Little Letters dies will work fine.  Both alphabets are the same size and of a block font.

Flowers For Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack - separate the twine to get the Whisper White piece

Small Bloom Punch - after you've glued on the flowers, scrunch them up with your fingernails.  It's okay if the paper splits!  All that texture will add so much to your card!

***Just think of all the sentiments you could die-cut with this technique - Love You, For You, With Sympathy, Thanks, You Are My Joy, Gather - my head is spinning with all the possibilities!  And then when I think of all the beautiful Designer Series Paper Stampin' Up! has......I think I'll be stamping ALL DAY****

What greetings would you die-cut?  What Designer Series Paper would you use?  Let me know in the comments!💕

Saturday Sketch 812 - Zany Zebras

It's time for another Saturday sketch!  Every Wednesday, Splitcoaststampers posts a card sketch and it's the challenge I participate in the most.  Sometimes beginning a project can seem daunting because you just don't know where to start.  That's where sketches swoop in for the win - they give you a place to start so all you have to do is pull out your paper, ink, and stamps!  You're still being creative AND you're enjoying yourself.

The stamp set I used for this week's card was #1 on my list when the Annual Catalog was released in June - Zany Zebras!  These little guys are so frisky and cute!  Maybe zebras aren't like that in real life, but with stamps, anything is possible.

How can anyone resist this little zebra's joy?  He/she almost reminds me of a puppy.

Here's an easy coloring tip: stamp the zebra in Melon Mambo ink, then use a Blender Pen to go over the image.  The Blender Pen will pull the ink around the image to fill it in.  I mention this tip in the video below.
