It's time for another Saturday Sketch Card! Today we take Emma back to college. She's been home since March and it's like she's leaving for the first time all over again - except this time, she has best friends and an apartment she's returning to! Which means she is excited to be returning. Caitlin and Alaina begin school August 31 and they, too, are excited about going back. Our beloved sport of cross country is still up in the air, however. Boo! I LOVE coaching the middle school team and this was the year Alaina decided, after 5 years of being a cheering spectator for her sisters, to give it a try! Emma's college season was cancelled so if high school's is, too, well......you all will be seeing a LOT of fall projects - a LOT!! Brace yourselves😁
On to stamping.
We're playing with circles in this week's sketch. Did you know most people find circles more visually pleasant than squares? I just read that a couple days ago and found it interesting because I don't use too many circles on my projects. Well, that's why this is a challenge, right?
My cousin just had her first babies - twin boys! My aunt has been so excited anticipating their arrival, so I made this card for her and my uncle. They are going to be the best grandparents.
I used the Itty Bitty Greetings set to stamp a random background in Smoky Slate ink on Smoky Slate cardstock. The circles are die-cut from Misty Moonlight cardstock using the Layering Circles and Stitched Shapes dies. I don't buy too many die sets because I enjoy hand-cutting (or fussy cutting), but die sets that offer versatile staples that can be used on just about any project definitely are in my stamping tool box.
- Spritz your cardstock with a Stampin' Spritzer filled with water before placing it in a 3D embossing folder. The water will soften the fibers and cause the folder to make a deeper impression when you run it through your die-cutting and embossing machine (Tasteful Textiles 3D Embossing Folder used with Soft Sea Foam cardstock here).
- Use your Stampin' Blends to color Pearl Basics Jewels. I colored mine with a Dark Soft Sea Foam Blends for this card.
