2 Pretty and Easy Fall Card Ideas

My sweet team leader Lyssa Zwolanek of Song Of My Heart Stampers brightened my day with these 2 autumn-themed cards.  I've been on her team for almost 8 years now and each year gets more fun than the last!  In fact, we have a meeting tonight on our team's Facebook page and I guarantee I'll be looking forward to it all day.  With Lyssa's permission, I've included the Card Recipes below.  

Beautiful Autumn Card

• Cut a Crumb Cake card base of 4-1/4"x11", folded in half at 5-1/2".
• Cut a 4"x5-1/4" piece of Crumb Cake cardstock and glue to the card base.
• All images are stamped and punched with the Beautiful Autumn Bundle.
• Stamp little leaves in Crumb Cake ink on the card's background.
• Stamp and punch 2 leaves in Cajun Craze ink on Cajun Craze cardstock.
• Stamp and punch 2 leaves in Cherry Cobbler ink on Cherry Cobbler cardstock.
• Stamp and punch 2 acorns in Bumblebee in on Bumblebee cardstock.
• Zig zag and adhere Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon.
• Stamp sentiment in Crumb Cake ink on Whisper White cardstock.
• Punch with 2-1/4" Circle Punch and adhere to card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
• Add Champagne Basics Rhinestones.

Harvest Hellos Card

• Cut a 5-1/2"x8-1/2" base from Crumb Cake cardstock and fold in half at 4-1/4".
• Cut a 3"x4-1/4" piece of Bumblebee cardstock and glue to card base.
• All images are from Harvest Hellos.
• In Bumblebee ink, stamp the sentiment on Whisper White cardstock (the stamp set has 6 greetings to choose from). 
• Use the Rectangular Postage Punch to punch out the sentiment panel and also panels from Pear Pizzazz and 2020-2022 In Color Designer Series Paper Pack.  Glue to card.
• Stamp apple in Real Red ink on Real Red cardstock.  Use Apple Builder Punch to punch out apple, a stem in Early Espresso, and a leaf in Pear Pizzazz.  Glue to card.

It Was A Good Monday

Mondays get a bad rap, but I've always loved the fresh starts they represent.  Being at church the day before fills my spiritual tank so when Monday rolls around, it feels like an opportunity to begin again and "make it great".  Last Monday was REALLY great because I got to stamp the day away with Cathie, Traci, and Kathy (3 team members)!

Look at the cute sign Cathie made to welcome us!  She was the best hostess, making us all feel at home and comfortable.

Cathie's husband even served us lunch so that we wouldn't have to stay away from our stamps, paper, and ink for too long.  Wasn't that so kind?  

We brought project kits to share with everyone and ended up making 6 cards.  I already showed mine in this post here.  Below you'll see 3 more with the steps to make them.  Just click the images to be taken to a full supply list, where you can add any of the items to your cart to recreate these beauties!

🍂 Thick Whisper White cardstock - 5-1/2"x8-1/2", folded in half at 4-1/4"

🍂 Crushed Curry cardstock - 4"x5-1/4"; cut (2) 1" slits, the first 2" down from the top of the long side and the second 3" down; emboss with Dainty Diamonds 3d Embossing Folder.  Watch my Facebook Live replay at the 15:00 mark here to see how to do these.

🍂 Stamp sentiment from Many Mates in Basic Gray ink on the "bridge".

🍂 Glue a 1-3/4"x4" piece of Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper (15% off this month!) to a 2"x4" piece of Basic Gray cardstock.  Slip behind the cuts and glue in place.

🍂Cut leaves from Pumpkin Pie and So Saffron cardstock using Stitched Leaves Dies.  Glue to card.

🍂Tie bow with Linen Thread and glue to card.

 🌲Rococo Rose card base - 5-1/2"x8-1/2", folded in half at 4-1/4"; use the Evergreen Forest 3d Embossing Folder to emboss the front of the card 

 🌲Whisper White cardstock - 3"x5-1/2"; drag a Rococo Rose ink pad down the lower half of the cardstock to create that luxurious matte look

 🌲Stamp the trees from Merry Moose in Basic Gray and Rococo Rose inks.  Stamp several times without re-inking to get the lighter shades of the trees.

 🌲Glue stamped piece to a 3-1/4"x5-1/2" piece of Silver Foil and glue that finished piece to card.

 🌲Glue down a piece of Metallic Mesh Ribbon.

 🌲Punch a 3/4" wide of Whisper White cardstock with the Lovely Labels Pick A Punch.

 🌲Stamp greeting from Itty Bitty Christmas in Basic Gray ink and glue on top of ribbon.

 🌲Add Adhesive-Backed Snowflakes and little bow tied with the twine from the Flowers For Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack (pull the Misty Moonlight twine from the strands before tying in a bow).

 🌲Load up a Water Painter with Frost White Shimmer Paint and flick over the card.

🎄Thick Whisper White cardstock - 5-1/2"x8-1/2", folded in half at 4-1/4"

🎄Real Red cardstock - 4"x5-1/2", glued to card base and distressed with Paper Snips (run blade along edges).

🎄Use Tailored Tag Punch to punch 5 of each color: Real Red, Whisper White, Garden Green
🎄Arrange and glue in a pattern on a 3-3/4"x5" piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Trim excess and glue to card. 

🎄Cut a 4"x5/8" piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Stamp sentiment from Itty Bitty Christmas in Shaded Spruce ink.  Bend and shape cardstock and glue to card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

🎄Cut from Silver Foil a tree using the Pine Woods Dies and glue to card.

The other 2 cards we made will each have their own blog post because they are fancy folds (with a surprise in one of them!).  I'll have a video for each of them so you can easily follow along.

Saturday Card Sketch 824 - I Went Crazy With This Fall Card!

 Welcome to The Joyful Stamper blog, where you'll discover that you can be creative and you can make something pretty!  I encourage you to give card making a try and know that you can always reach out to me for help.

Every Saturday, I post the weekly sketch from Splitcoaststampers (a favorite place of mine) and also show you my take on it.  The best part is that you can make what I make because I have a video and written instructions for you!

This past Monday, 3 friends and I met to stamp the day away.  We each brought a project to share (those will be shared in a future post) and this one was mine.  There are a lot of details and techniques in this autumn card, but they are easy and add up to something WOW!

The full supply list is in the clickable image at the end of this post.  I'll point out the tips and tricks.  🌞Joyful Stamper Tip #1: See those metallic leaves inside the card?  They were cut from the label on the card front (the Brushed Metallic one behind the Gilded Autumn Designer Series Paper label)!  The cut portion is covered by the top label.  This paper-saving trick stretches your use of that precious metallic paper!

🌞Joyful Stamper Tip #2: Gently separate a 6-1/2" length of Braided Linen Trim and pull out 3 strands.  Fold the trim in half and tie the 3 strands in a knot around the folded trim.  Adhere the piece beside your sentiment with a Mini Glue Dot.  Isn't that rustic look fabulous?

🌞Joyful Stamper Tip #3: After stamping the collage on Very Vanilla cardstock (images are from the Gather Together set in the Holiday catalog), run it through your Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine with the Tasteful Textiles 3D Embossing Folder.  The texture is divine - run your fingers over it and see if you don't agree!

🌞Joyful Stamper Tip #4: This tip is the one that made me most excited - use your Stampin' Blends (Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze in my sample) to color the large leaf image.  Before die-cutting, outline each leaf with a Dark Mint Macaron Stampin' Blend.  The effect makes those leaves pop off your card!

Saturday Sketch 820 - Coming a Little Late!

The sketch challenge from Splitcoaststampers that I usually post on Saturdays is coming to you on a Tuesday this week.  Inspiration does not care what day it is, however, so hopefully you don't, either!  I filmed a short marker thumping technique to show you how to get a beautiful multi-colored fall leaves look and you'll find that below the card photos.  It's SO easy that truly anyone can do it!  There's also a written tutorial that you can pin, print, or save.

There is a set in the Stampin' Up! Holiday catalog called Life Is Beautiful and I immediately thought of the Marker Thumping Technique when I saw its leaves images.  I don't have that set, though, and I wanted to make it NOW so I pulled out the retired Sheltering Tree.  Both sets have very similar images and this card can be made using Life Is Beautiful.

The fall colors of this card are gorgeous!  I wanted a soft, cozy look so I reached for the Plaid Tidings pack of Designer Series Paper.  This paper comes in a 6"x6" size, which makes it handy for cardmaking.

I added texture with the Tasteful Textiles 3D Embossing Folder, lots of layers, and distressing with my fingernail.

The die-cut Pumpkin Pie leaves have a hint of Pumpkin Pie ink sponged on them, just enough to pick up the embossed leaf ridges (Gathered Leaves dies).

Don't miss these multi-colored leaves!  The look was created using the Marker Thumping technique and Regals Stampin' Write Markers.  Watch the short video below to learn how to create this very easy, very fall look.

September Paper Pumpkin Alternate Ideas

  

Wow!  I was super impressed with this month's Paper Pumpkin kit!  The kit is intended to make 20 cracker treat packages and if you did so, I dug up some ideas for what to put inside:

• chapstick
• small bottles of nail polish
• a roll or partial roll of coins
• tiny dolls or action figures
• PEZ characters
• spider rings
• small seasonal erasers
• gum

When I saw the kit contents, my jaw fell open.  This box was PACKED with seasonal lovelies.  Paper Pumpkin is a bargain, whether you get it month-by-month or as a subscription.  Just take a look at the photo above to see what I mean!  And if 3D projects aren't your thing for this month's kit, Paper Pumpkin came up with gorgeous card options.

Saturday Card Sketch 818 - Mix & Match Patterned Papers + Glad Press N Seal Trick

 *sigh*  It's Saturday and normally our family would be at a cross country meet (or two) all day.  But all the big invitationals have been canceled.  It makes my heart hurt with disappointment.  Being outside in the cooler weather, dashing from point to point on the course to get a glimpse of our daughters racing, cheering ourselves hoarse, meeting up in the school tent with the other parents.....it's SO MUCH FUN.  Brian and I can easily log 6-7 miles of running ourselves just from sprinting around the fields!  

I think I'll bury my disappointment in stamps, ink, and paper.  And it is time for another Saturday Card Sketch from Splitcoaststampers!

Upon first glance at this week's sketch, my mind wondered how to easily cut those angles.  Fortunately the solution came quickly to mind!  And it isn't a difficult solution - I just like to over-complicate things in true Nicole fashion.

All the Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from Stampin' Up!'s Gilded Autumn Specialty pack.  I get a bit nervous about mixing patterns, so I am grateful that each paper pack has coordinating colors and patterns.  It gives me confidence when creating!

The horizontal DSP pieces are 2-1/8"x5-1/2".  The triangles began as a 3"x3" square.  Cut the square in half diagonally, from corner to corner.  

Tip: line up the bottom and top corners in your paper trimmer's cutting track.  Cut slowly while pressing down firmly on the guide to hold the paper in place.  I show this in the video below at the 3:00 mark.

I love filling my cards with lots of little details!  The "wreath frame" is from the Painted Labels dies set.  The leaves are cut with Gathered Leaves dies and Brushed Metallic Cardstock in copper and bronze.  Those leaf dies both cut and emboss in one pass through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine (make sure to read at the end of this post about my special promotion for this month when you order this machine in my store!).  It looks beautiful on the metallic cardstock!

After stamping the greeting (from High Tide) in Cajun Craze ink, I swiped a Blender Pen across it to slightly smear the ink.  The soft, blurred look adds something - and I can't come up with the right word - but I just know I love it!  Gold Glitter Enamel Dots added the perfect finishing sparkle.  Watch the video below to see this card come together and I also have a free PDF for you to save below that.

And here's how I used the Glad Press N Seal - after arranging the leaves on the wreath (without gluing them down), lay a piece of Press N Seal over the arrangement. Press to adhere the leaves to it, then gently lift up and flip over.  Apply glue to the backs of the leaves, flip back over, and lay on the wreath.  Slowly peel away the Press N Seal.  I LOVE this trick!!  Watch the video below to see it demonstrated.
