September Paper Pumpkin Alternate Ideas

  

Wow!  I was super impressed with this month's Paper Pumpkin kit!  The kit is intended to make 20 cracker treat packages and if you did so, I dug up some ideas for what to put inside:

• chapstick
• small bottles of nail polish
• a roll or partial roll of coins
• tiny dolls or action figures
• PEZ characters
• spider rings
• small seasonal erasers
• gum

Hello Pumpkin - September Paper Pumpkin Monthly Stamp Kit

 

Hey!  We're still in swimming pool/beach/flip-flops mode!  There is no need to rush fall at all in our daily living (and I highly recommend against wishing time away!), but that doesn't mean we can't stamp for it.  Seeing the photo above does have me craving apple cider from my local farmer's market and my favorite college hoodie, though.

Box Of Sunshine - June Paper Pumpkin kit

I love this box!  I love the pineapples!  And I LOVE the concept!

What is the concept?  Well, the kit makes 8 full-size cards with envelopes but it also leaves you with enough extra stickers and labels to decorate the box top.  The sticker label covers the Paper Pumpkin logo on the box front and you fill the box with yellow items to surprise and delight someone.  Isn't that so sweet?

4 Tips For Using Your Paper Pumpkin Kit

It's exciting to see that Paper Pumpkin kit in your mailbox and it's even more exciting to tear it open and dive in!  Today I'm sharing with you some tips for creating with your Paper Pumpkin kits.

The first tip I have is to punch out and sort any printed pieces that come with the kit.  My photos all use product from March's Under The Weather kit.  For the smallest pieces, I have a little glass dish I keep them in.  Muffin tins would be a great way to organize all of the pieces, though!

The second tip I have is to stamp all your sentiments.  I like to use every greeting that is in the stamp set with the provided ink spot so that I have a variety to choose from.

My next tip is to cut the twine (or ribbon) included in the kit.  There is a ruler at the bottom of the instruction sheet you can use to measure out to the correct length.  The instructions will tell you how long the pieces should be.

Now you're organized and ready to create!  Here I made the cards exactly as the kit intended.

You can go one step further and come up with your own designs.  If you choose that path, pull cardstock in all the kit colors (listed in the instruction sheet and on my blog's Paper Pumpkin page).  This allows you to create seamlessly without having to jump up and down to retrieve colors.  It also lets you easily view which combinations you love.

For my alternative project, I used a masking tape technique to create a rainbow.  Tear off a piece of making tape longer than your paper (enough extra that you can hold it on both ends).  Tap the tape in an ink pad, then lay the tape ink side down on your paper.  When you lift it, the ink will have transferred to the paper in an uneven, edgy pattern.  It's such a cool look!

And here's the card I made with the masking tape technique.  That printed piece of the boots is what inspired me!

The Happy (Half) Hour Live Show

Every Tuesday at 2 PM ET I go live on The Joyful Stamper Facebook Page.  Today I'll show you 5 ways to use the Peaceful Poppies Elements, found on page 25 of Stampin' Up!'s Mini Catalog.  There are printed die-cuts in color and on black cardstock, embossed vellum pieces, and embossed watercolor pieces.  You get 2 sheets of each type for $6.50, so it's a really good value!  Plus, they are so fun and versatile to play with!

Easy Valentine Candy Holder

This is a great little folio that can hold a small bag of gummy bears (I used these).  SNAIL nicely attaches the candy bag to the cardstock.

• Score a 10-1/2"x3-1/2" piece of Real Red cardstock at 3", 3-1/2", 6-3/4", & 7-1/4".
• Stamp images on Flirty Flamingo cardstock using Heartfelt set, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, and Real Red ink.
• Punch heart with Heart Punch Pack and fussy cut arrow with Paper Snips.
• Die-cut From My Heart DSP with Layering Squares die or to 3-1/4" square.  Glue to front of candy holder.
• Tie Real Red Double-Stitched Satin Ribbon around holder.  Layer on Heart Doily and other stamped elements.  Add From My Heart Faceted Gems with Fine-Tip Glue.

This is a fantastic project if you need to make multiples, for a child's Valentine's class party or to pass out to neighbors, for example.  You can find all the supplies in my online store.
