How Do I Do That? - Handy Adhesive Chart

I'm back from our vacation to Hilton Head Island, SC and ready to jump back into things!  Sunday night was Mystery Stamping Hour and it was SO wonderful to be in conversation with other stampers!  It's just so nice to be with people who get the whole love of paper, inks, and stamps thing, right?  Who understand why you have to smell the paper when you open the pack, right?  

*crickets*  

Hmmm....that last one might be just me being weird.  BUT I have a very common and normal question to answer for you today!

Yes, I can!  Page 162 of the Annual Stampin' Up! Catalog is where you'll find all our adhesives.  All of them work great, but with 13 choices, it can be confusing knowing which one to use and when to use it.  Each one has its purpose and I've developed a handy chart to help you!

Saturday Sketch + Card Video & PDF Tutorial

I got SO excited when I saw this sketch!  Immediately visions of the giant leaf from Gather Together filled my mind and the color scheme of Shaded Spruce, Pear Pizzazz, and Coastal Cabana was decided upon.

This card just fell right out of my head and onto the stamps, ink, and paper in 30 minutes.  Don't you LOVE stamping sessions like that?  It turned out exactly as I envisioned!  And I love it so much, I made a video and wrote a tutorial for you.  

There are two pretty fun techniques on this card that will make you say WoW, too.  One is creating a tri-colored leaf with sponge daubers and the other is a unique way to jazz up wooden embellishments using embossing powder and Stampin' Blends.

Mystery Stamping Hour This Sunday!

Woo-hoo!  It's back!  Another Mystery Stamping Hour with The Joyful Stamper!  

What is Mystery Stamping?  

It's an hour of fun and intrigue.  You bring the stamping supplies and I'll post the instructions one step at a time.  The catch is that you won't know what we're making until the last step.  After the last step, everyone posts a photo of their creation.  It's wild to see how others interpret the steps with their stash.

How do you register and what does it cost?

It costs nothing!  This event is SO fun that I've made it free to everyone!  I want you to be there, having a great time.  There is no need to register, either.  Just join the Facebook group Mystery Stamping Hour with The Joyful Stamper and then be there at 8 PM ET this Friday May 22.  That's 5 PT, 6 MT, and 7 CT.

What should I "bring"?

Happy Half Hour Facebook Live - I'm Getting Wordy!

Being too wordy - that is something I've ALWAYS been accused of.  "You talk a lot" or "Let's shorten this a bit"  is not uncommon for me to hear.  I love to write.  I love to share.  I love words.

Daisies On The Diagonal

Indulge me a bit today please.  I pulled out some retired Designer Series Paper and used Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots from the catalog just expired.  They just fit so perfectly for this card and I couldn't resist.  I'm SURE you all have Stampin' Up! product you use that is no longer in the catalogs - and it's actually very fun to shop the stash and re-discover what you have!

I designed this card for my monthly team stamping bee for local members.  I design and prep 3-4 projects for us to create as we laugh and catch up.  It's a perk for my downline, but I absolutely LOVE being with them each month.  When the morning is over, everyone has visibly renewed energy plus 4 cute cards to send out!

I realized while taking these photos that the card can be vertical or horizontal.  Happy accident!  

Large and small daisies from Daisy Lane were stamped in Daffodil Delight on Daffodil Delight cardstock, then punched out using the coordinating daisy punches.  I LOVE that "smile" sentiment - it's not too large, not too small, and beautifully scripted in a readable font.

Did you catch the Night Of Navy diagonal strip on the Misty Moonlight card base?  It's 7"x1", glued diagonally, with the overhang trimmed.  It's a great design trick for pulling the eye along the daisy explosion!

The inside is a 4"x5-1/4" piece of Whisper White cardstock with the edges stamped in Daffodil Delight ink and the small daisy stamp.  We leave nothing naked when we stamp!

• Misty Moonlight cardstock- 8-1/2"x5-1/2" card base, folded in half at 4-1/4"
• Night Of Navy cardstock- 7"x1" strip
• 4-3/4"x3-3/4" piece of Designer Series Paper in this or this
• Daffodil Delight cardstock - to stamp and punch daisies
• Whisper White cardstock - 5-1/4"x4" for inside; 4"x1" for sentiment

2 Cards From Last Night's Friend Like You Online Class

I love Sunday evenings like yesterday's!  Last night was the first Joyful Stamper Online Class and the stamping ladies were enjoyable.  It is the best feeling to be with other people who get the passion for paper, stamps, and ink.  It's also a great feeling to know you can do this, with someone right there to help you out with your questions.  Join the group and you'll never miss these fun classes.

This colorful creation was Card #1.  Each class packet includes supplies to make 8 cards total, 2 each of 4 designs, plus envelopes.  The pieces are all cut, scored, die-cut, and embossed for you.  The live video is recorded so you can watch it as many times as you like, whenever you like and the written instructions are posted in the group as a pdf file for you to print or save.  It's truly class done 100% your way!

Saturday Sketch + Card Video & PDF Tutorial

My brother and his family stayed with us in our itty bitty one-story 1200 square feet home this week and it was crazy!  Crazy in a super fun way, though.  I love my niece and twin nephews.  They are 7, 5 and 5.  Those ages are so healing and healthy for an adult to take his or her mind off the cares of the world.  What's more important this morning than playing a Wii Mario Kart tournament?  Nothing?  Or what's more important this evening than roasting a marshmallow over a campfire for a s'more?  Nothing!

Using a sketch like this week's from Splitcoaststampers is a timesaver in week's like this past one where there wasn't much time to create.  There's even a forum thread to post a photo of what you make with the sketch, or to gallery gaze at what others did with it.

I loved the idea of combining the Buffalo Check background stamp with Free As A Bird.  The images were colored with Stampin' Blends, as were the pearls.  

Did you know you could color pearls, rhinestones, and ribbons with Stampin' Blends?  Since the Blends are alcohol inks, they can be used on both porous and non-porous surfaces.  I love that ability to have embellishments in whatever Stampin' Up! color I need!

Knowing people learn by different methods, I've created both a video and a written tutorial for this week's sketch card.  Enjoy!
