Easy Halloween Candy Holders

 Hi, everyone!  I'm bringing back some popular projects from last year's 6 Days of Halloween blog series.  These boxes, bags, and holders are perfect for whipping up for trick-or-treaters or passing out to neighbors.  I toss a few in my purse to give out to people I see a lot when running errands - the clerk at the post office, the cashier at the grocery store, etc.  It's fun to surprise people and let them know they are appreciated!

It Was A Good Monday

Mondays get a bad rap, but I've always loved the fresh starts they represent.  Being at church the day before fills my spiritual tank so when Monday rolls around, it feels like an opportunity to begin again and "make it great".  Last Monday was REALLY great because I got to stamp the day away with Cathie, Traci, and Kathy (3 team members)!

Look at the cute sign Cathie made to welcome us!  She was the best hostess, making us all feel at home and comfortable.

Cathie's husband even served us lunch so that we wouldn't have to stay away from our stamps, paper, and ink for too long.  Wasn't that so kind?  

We brought project kits to share with everyone and ended up making 6 cards.  I already showed mine in this post here.  Below you'll see 3 more with the steps to make them.  Just click the images to be taken to a full supply list, where you can add any of the items to your cart to recreate these beauties!

🍂 Thick Whisper White cardstock - 5-1/2"x8-1/2", folded in half at 4-1/4"

🍂 Crushed Curry cardstock - 4"x5-1/4"; cut (2) 1" slits, the first 2" down from the top of the long side and the second 3" down; emboss with Dainty Diamonds 3d Embossing Folder.  Watch my Facebook Live replay at the 15:00 mark here to see how to do these.

🍂 Stamp sentiment from Many Mates in Basic Gray ink on the "bridge".

🍂 Glue a 1-3/4"x4" piece of Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper (15% off this month!) to a 2"x4" piece of Basic Gray cardstock.  Slip behind the cuts and glue in place.

🍂Cut leaves from Pumpkin Pie and So Saffron cardstock using Stitched Leaves Dies.  Glue to card.

🍂Tie bow with Linen Thread and glue to card.

 🌲Rococo Rose card base - 5-1/2"x8-1/2", folded in half at 4-1/4"; use the Evergreen Forest 3d Embossing Folder to emboss the front of the card 

 🌲Whisper White cardstock - 3"x5-1/2"; drag a Rococo Rose ink pad down the lower half of the cardstock to create that luxurious matte look

 🌲Stamp the trees from Merry Moose in Basic Gray and Rococo Rose inks.  Stamp several times without re-inking to get the lighter shades of the trees.

 🌲Glue stamped piece to a 3-1/4"x5-1/2" piece of Silver Foil and glue that finished piece to card.

 🌲Glue down a piece of Metallic Mesh Ribbon.

 🌲Punch a 3/4" wide of Whisper White cardstock with the Lovely Labels Pick A Punch.

 🌲Stamp greeting from Itty Bitty Christmas in Basic Gray ink and glue on top of ribbon.

 🌲Add Adhesive-Backed Snowflakes and little bow tied with the twine from the Flowers For Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack (pull the Misty Moonlight twine from the strands before tying in a bow).

 🌲Load up a Water Painter with Frost White Shimmer Paint and flick over the card.

🎄Thick Whisper White cardstock - 5-1/2"x8-1/2", folded in half at 4-1/4"

🎄Real Red cardstock - 4"x5-1/2", glued to card base and distressed with Paper Snips (run blade along edges).

🎄Use Tailored Tag Punch to punch 5 of each color: Real Red, Whisper White, Garden Green
🎄Arrange and glue in a pattern on a 3-3/4"x5" piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Trim excess and glue to card. 

🎄Cut a 4"x5/8" piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Stamp sentiment from Itty Bitty Christmas in Shaded Spruce ink.  Bend and shape cardstock and glue to card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

🎄Cut from Silver Foil a tree using the Pine Woods Dies and glue to card.

The other 2 cards we made will each have their own blog post because they are fancy folds (with a surprise in one of them!).  I'll have a video for each of them so you can easily follow along.

Saturday Card Sketch 824 - I Went Crazy With This Fall Card!

 Welcome to The Joyful Stamper blog, where you'll discover that you can be creative and you can make something pretty!  I encourage you to give card making a try and know that you can always reach out to me for help.

Every Saturday, I post the weekly sketch from Splitcoaststampers (a favorite place of mine) and also show you my take on it.  The best part is that you can make what I make because I have a video and written instructions for you!

This past Monday, 3 friends and I met to stamp the day away.  We each brought a project to share (those will be shared in a future post) and this one was mine.  There are a lot of details and techniques in this autumn card, but they are easy and add up to something WOW!

The full supply list is in the clickable image at the end of this post.  I'll point out the tips and tricks.  🌞Joyful Stamper Tip #1: See those metallic leaves inside the card?  They were cut from the label on the card front (the Brushed Metallic one behind the Gilded Autumn Designer Series Paper label)!  The cut portion is covered by the top label.  This paper-saving trick stretches your use of that precious metallic paper!

🌞Joyful Stamper Tip #2: Gently separate a 6-1/2" length of Braided Linen Trim and pull out 3 strands.  Fold the trim in half and tie the 3 strands in a knot around the folded trim.  Adhere the piece beside your sentiment with a Mini Glue Dot.  Isn't that rustic look fabulous?

🌞Joyful Stamper Tip #3: After stamping the collage on Very Vanilla cardstock (images are from the Gather Together set in the Holiday catalog), run it through your Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine with the Tasteful Textiles 3D Embossing Folder.  The texture is divine - run your fingers over it and see if you don't agree!

🌞Joyful Stamper Tip #4: This tip is the one that made me most excited - use your Stampin' Blends (Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze in my sample) to color the large leaf image.  Before die-cutting, outline each leaf with a Dark Mint Macaron Stampin' Blend.  The effect makes those leaves pop off your card!

My Annual Halloween Hershey's Nuggets Cakes!

 They're finished - my annual Halloween Hershey's Nugget Cakes!  Last year, I shared these 3-tiered towers of chocolate yumminess.  The original tutorial comes from Splitcoaststampers and they've been a HUGE hit with my daughters and their friends every year.

I used the Magic In This Night suite to create these - the stamps, dies, patterned and black glimmer paper, ribbon, and embossing folder.  Each nugget is wrapped in a 1"x3" strip of Magic In This Night Designer Series Paper, then adhered to a cardboard ring with Tear & Tape (you really need the strength of this adhesive for this project).

To create the cardboard rings that the Nuggets are glued to, I cut 3 strips per cake from a cereal box in these sizes:

• 1"x6" - holds 7 Nuggets
• 1"x8" - holds 9 Nuggets
• 1"x10" - holds 11 Nuggets
• Form a circle with each cereal box strip and staple the ends together.  Then glue on the wrapped Nuggets (lay 2 strips of Tear & Tape on the rings, peel off the liners, and press the Nuggets to the exposed adhesive).

The Party Pack bag of Nuggets was enough to make all 3 of these cakes.

The layers are separated by cardstock circles (you can use dies or punches to make them, or trace round objects around your home).  All layers of the tiers are hot-glued together.

The pieces on top of the cakes were hot-glued to toothpicks colored with a Dark Basic Black Stampin' Blends marker.  I poked holes in the top tier (the Take Your Pick Tool has a piercer that easily does this) and stuck the toothpicks in.

These are seriously fun to make and my daughters LOVE taking them to school to share with their friends!  The cakes get the best reactions and I love that everyone enjoys them so much.  Give them a try!!  Follow the tutorial on Splitcoaststampers and send me a picture of your cake!

Saturday Card Sketch 823 -Zany Zebras Birthday Card

There are 2 ways to interpret the sketch this week - as flat triangular layers, or as an Arrow Fold card.  Since the Arrow Fold is new to me, I decided to go that route.  I made a video and wrote a tutorial so that you could make one, too!

 

The Arrow Fold is pretty easy - it's just few diagonal score lines folded into that triangular shape.  Then you use adhesive to keep the folds shut.

🌞Joyful Stamper Tip: save paper by die-cutting pieces from the center of your cardstock mats.  In this card, I die-cut the Stitched Nested Label that the zebras are on from the center of the Whisper White mat.  The cut-out portion is covered by the Just Jade Designer Series Paper.

• Cut the card base to 5-1/2"x11" and score in half on the long side at 5-1/2"
• Mark the short side at 2-3/4".
• Mark the left and right long sides at 1-7/8", 3-3/4", and 5-1/2".
• Score from the 2-3/4" mark to each of the marks on the long side, both left and right sides.  You'll have 6 diagonal score lines when you are finished (3 on the left and 3 on the right), all radiating from the 2-3/4" mark.

Zany Zebras makes the cutest cards!  I wanted something fun and bright for my twin nephews' 6th birthdays.  After stamping the zebras, I went over them with a Blender Pen to fill in the image a bit with the stamped ink.  This is one of my all-time favorite techniques!  Add a pack of Blender Pens to your next order and give it a try - you'll see why it's a favorite!

My local store overbought Reese's Cups and had them for a great price, so I scooped some up to pass out to trick-or-treaters.  Then I saw a fun holder Erica Cerwin of Pink Buckaroo Designs made and it was perfect for all the Reese's Cups I had!  Of course, I had to grunge it up a bit - it's Halloween!  I used the absolutely amazing Hallows Night Magic Bundle and Magic In This Night Designer Series Paper (it's on sale this month!)

Next up is this lollipop holder.  I like to include something fun in my Cards To Go and Creativity Kits, just to surprise and delight and say thank you.  It's fun coming up with a cute design each month!  I used both label dies from the Hallows Night Magic Bundle to cut Cherry Cobbler cardstock and 'Tis The Season 6"x6" Designer Series Paper (this, too, is on sale, and you get 48 sheets!).  The Pine Tree Punch with that paper is fabulous!  This design could easily be turned into a Christmas card!
