Mother's Day Card With a Fun Fold

Recently, a stamping friend sent me a card with a fun fold I'd never seen before.  It was so intriguing that I had to make one, too.  Since Mother's Day is around the corner, I pulled out the retiring Tea Together stamp set and its matching dies and got to work (by the way, those dies are only $8.40!).

The elegance of this set pairs perfectly with Parisian Blossoms Designer Series Paper (also retiring but also discounted!).  That little touch of champagne foil in the printed paper's script makes me swoon!  I cannot explain why these things make me so happy but.....they do.  

And there's the Fun Fold!  I used the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch to create a decorative edge to the printed paper and the Pool Party cardstock underneath.

The card still opens like a regular one, so you can write a nice message to Mom inside.  But the addition of the fold on the front lets you add a beautiful surprise!

The Tea Together set has a beautiful Mother's Day sentiment that nestles perfectly in a die from Ornate Frames (remember that gem from the Holiday Catalog last fall? You can still get it!).  I had to add lots of pretties - Petal Pink Metallic Edge Ribbon, Very Vanilla Scalloped Lace Trim, and Basics Pearls (the tiniest ones).

Easy Birthday Card for Him + Free How-To + Card Sketch

This Country Club Designer Series Paper is retiring and I barely touched it!  It's on page 47 of the Mini Catalog and is a part of the Country Club Suite.  Stampin' Up! gave it to us free at OnStage back in November (a VERY sweet demonstrator perk).  

Those bright colors inspired me to use my Balloon Bouquet punch.  Who wouldn't smile at a bunch of colorful balloons?  

The balloons are popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals.  I matted the DSP pieces with Basic Black cardstock to make them stand out from each other.

Check out how the stitching on the DSP matches the stitching on the Stitched Shapes die-cut oval!

I've included some helpful tools for you to make this card.  First up, a card sketch (go ahead and pin it to your card sketch board)!

Next up, the groovy color combination (you can pin this, too, to your color inspiration board)! 

 Last, a step-by-step how-to with measurements, a photo, and supply list!  Of course you can pin or print this (you do have a board of Joyful Stamper tutorials, right?).

Birthday Bonanza Critters in a Cubby Hole + How-To PDF

Hellllllooooooo Monday, friends!  I love Mondays for their fresh starts and the sense of excited anticipation they bring me.  Others feel that way about Fridays (my husband).  WHATEVER your favorite day is, I know you're going to love what I'm sharing today!  The card below was very popular with people!  

The thing is, I copied it from the Stampin' Up! Mini Catalog.  Page 32, near the bottom.  It's the Birthday Bonanza Suite.  The layout caught my eye, with those adorable animals poking their sweet selves out of little cubby holes. 

 I adapted it to what I had and I've made a How-To for you to pin or print (because I know you want to make this)!  It's at the end of this post.

This card has already been mailed out and I think my 7-year-old niece will really enjoy seeing it in her mailbox.  I spent an hour yesterday stamping envelopes and writing messages in a stack of cards to mail out today.  It's so fun creating the beauties, but even more heartwarming and enjoyable is hearing back from those who receive them.  It's a great reinforcer that our words and actions matter.  The added benefit of a card is that it can be looked at over and over, as many times as the recipient needs a paper hug.

Project #9 in the Ornate Garden Suite Bundle

The other day I went for a walk and got caught in a HEAVY downpour the last 2 miles.  In my running days, a sprint through the rain was invigorating and fun.  Some of my best runs were in the rain.  Walking in the rain, though, is not like that.  It feels....soggy.  BUT, on this particular morning it felt like my runs in the rain did - fresh and invigorating!  I was smiling and singing to my music at the top of my lungs.  People driving by must have been wondering if they should smile at my obvious joy or call the police on some poor woman who had clearly snapped under the strain of being in a 1200 square foot home for 6 weeks with 3 teenage girls deprived of their social freedom and autonomy, a yappy dog, and a husband who like a dripping faucet at 2 AM complains he can't find ONE QUIET SPOT in the whole house to have his conference calls.

It was joy that was making me smile and sing in the rain.  It just felt GOOD.  And as long as my family keeps up the steady infusions of dark chocolate sea salt carmels from Aldi's, all will be well.

The sentiment on today's Ornate Garden Project #9 (in my Mega Tutorial Bundle - see below) expresses how I was feeling on that rainy walk.  The Ornate Thanks stamp set has TONS of phrases that let you mix and match so you can express gratitude exactly how you want to.  Yes, even that itty bitty "I'm" is its own stamp!  

And how sweet is that dry embossed background?  The daintiness of the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder is lovely!

Heads Up Tip: There're 2 new die-cutting machines in the upcoming 2020-2021 Annual Catalog.  One is a Mini that is lightweight and portable for crafting away from home and the other is a larger machine that can handle bigger dies and embossing folders.  While they won't be available June 3 when the catalog goes live, Stampin' Up! said you can order them early in the new catalog period.  I've seen them and I'm EXCITED!  Very sleek with a neutral color scheme to fit any craft area decor.

Project #8 in the Ornate Garden Suite Bundle

Did you check what's retiring from the Annual and Mini Catalogs yesterday against what remains on your Wish list?  I like to curl up with a cup of hot tea and my catalog, going through the list and marking off the retiring items with a Sharpie.  It keeps me organized and it's so fun to revisit things I may have forgotten about!  Plus, I inevitably see catalog samples that have me looking at products in a new light.

But here's something that will be in the NEW annual catalog and you can get it now!  I've been posting a bevy of projects this month made with the Ornate Garden Suite.  Today's was so much fun, I made two!  It's a flap-top box.  The top is held closed with a Velcro dot (you can find those in craft stores, the Dollar Tree, or here).  

Look at the flap on this second box - I used an Ornate Layers die to cut into a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock, then backed it with the Designer Series Paper.  That peek-a-boo effect has a daintiness to it that is pretty.  And who can resist ripping and tearing and crumpling paper?  Not me!

The directions for this flap-top box are in my Ornate Garden Suite Mega Tutorial Bundle as Project #8.  These would be darling shower or party favors!
